You too can become a Raktivist
‘RAKtivist’ is short for ‘Random Acts of Kindness activist’. Think of RAKtivists like kindness ambassadors—and, like all ambassadors, they’re a part of an active, global community. More
Thursday 1 September is Random Acts of Kindness Day (although of course every day is an opportunity!)
In keeping with Splice’s drive for a compassionate and connected community, they were out that morning on the streets of the city centre raising the profile of kindness as a way of being with each other. We were supported in this action by the City Centre Design Unit, K’RD Business Association and Heart of the City.
Think about the last time you acted out of kindness and you’ll probably remember that it is as good to be the giver as it is the receiver. Kindness builds relationships and it challenges even the grumpiest of recipients to act positively. Kindness is now proven to be contagious – like the flu it is passed on from one person to the next but with symptoms far more pleasurable!
Splice invites everyone to consider not just the smaller acts of kindness on the day- the smile, the cup of coffee paid forward but also more impactful actions for community benefit. Take the time to check out www.splice.org.nz/random-acts-of-kindness
